Tesla charges $235 for a cabin air filter replacement at their service center. The actual filter costs about $25. The rest is labor and markup. And the labor? It is a 10-minute job that requires zero tools and zero experience.
What You Need
- - 1x replacement Tesla cabin air filter (compatible with Model 3 and Model Y)
- - A flat surface to work on
- - 10 minutes
That is it. No tools. No jack stands.
Step-by-Step: Tesla Cabin Air Filter Replacement
Step 1: Open the Glove Box
Sit in the passenger seat. Open the glove box by pressing the button on your Tesla touchscreen (Controls > Glove Box).
Step 2: Remove the Glove Box Panel
The glove box has a damper (a small strut) on the right side. Gently pull it off the clip. Then squeeze the sides of the glove box inward to release it from the dashboard.
Step 3: Remove the Old Filter
You will see the cabin air filter housing behind where the glove box was. Release the tab and slide the old filter out. If it has been in there for a year or more, it will be grey and dusty.
Step 4: Install the New Filter
Slide the new filter into the housing. Make sure the airflow arrow matches the direction indicated on the housing. Click the cover back into place.
Step 5: Reassemble
Push the glove box back into its clips on both sides. Reattach the damper strut. Close the glove box. Done.

How Often Should You Replace It?
Tesla says every 2 years. If you drive in dusty areas, have pets, or live near construction, every 12 months is smarter. At $25 a filter, replacing it annually costs less than a single dealer visit.
The EV Hub carries OEM-equivalent Tesla cabin air filters for Model 3 and Model Y at $25 CAD. Same filtration. Same fit. No dealer markup.
