Why Canada and Not the US?

The US maintains a 100% tariff on Chinese-made EVs, making BYD vehicles unaffordable there. Canada negotiated a 6.1% tariff, making it BYD's only North American market. Every BYD owner in North America will be in Canada.

What About Rebates?

Important: BYD vehicles are built in China, so they do **not** qualify for the federal iZEV/EVAP rebate. British Columbia has no provincial EV rebate in 2026. Quebec's Roulez vert program still offers $2,000, but it is set to end in December 2026. Plan for the full MSRP — the confirmed $34,990 starting price already reflects the reduced 6.1% tariff.

**What you need:** - A Level 2 portable charger ($499) or wall-mount charger ($500+) - A 240V outlet (NEMA 14-50, same as a dryer outlet) - Full charge overnight: 6-8 hours on Level 2

The Level 1 charger included with the vehicle will take 40+ hours for a full charge. Level 2 is not optional - it is essential.
