BYD is opening 20 dealerships in Canada in 2026. Here is everything we know about the Atto 3 - pricing, range, features, and how to prepare before it arrives.

Why Canada and Not the US?
The US maintains a 100% tariff on Chinese-made EVs, making BYD vehicles unaffordable there. Canada negotiated a 6.1% tariff, making it BYD's only North American market. Every BYD owner in North America will be in Canada.
What About Rebates?
If BYD prices the Atto 3 under $55,000, it would qualify for the federal iZEV rebate of up to $5,000. Provincial rebates in Quebec (up to $7,000) and BC (up to $4,000) could bring the out-of-pocket cost below $30,000. That would make the Atto 3 one of the most affordable EVs in Canada.
The Blade Battery Advantage
BYD makes their own batteries. The Blade Battery uses lithium iron phosphate (LFP) chemistry, which is: - Safer (passed the nail penetration test without catching fire) - Longer lasting (3,000+ cycles) - More stable in extreme temperatures - Cheaper to produce (lower vehicle cost)
This is the same battery tech that powers BYD's entire lineup.
How to Charge a BYD Atto 3 at Home
When BYD launches in Canada, their vehicles will use either J1772 or NACS connectors to comply with North American standards. This means any standard Level 2 charger will work.
**What you need:** - A Level 2 portable charger ($529) or wall-mount charger ($500+) - A 240V outlet (NEMA 14-50, same as a dryer outlet) - Full charge overnight: 6-8 hours on Level 2
The Level 1 charger included with the vehicle will take 40+ hours for a full charge. Level 2 is not optional - it is essential.
What Parts Will You Need?
Based on BYD vehicles in other markets, Atto 3 owners will need: - Level 2 home charger (available now at The EV Hub) - All-weather floor mats (coming when vehicle specs are confirmed) - Screen protector for the 12.8"/15.6" rotating display (coming soon) - Cabin air filter replacement (every 12-18 months) - Wiper blades (yearly)
